How it works

A real 3D guitar that plays your tab. Drop in a MIDI or Guitar Pro file and the instrument performs it note for note, on the strings and frets a hand would actually use, and records that as a video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Then it listens: in Practice Mode the song holds on the note until your microphone hears you, and a missed chord is answered with the string that was missing rather than a percentage. The demo songs are free to practice; your own uploads need Creator. Nothing to install; your own files are kept in your private library.

The Player takes MIDI (.mid) and Guitar Pro tabs (.gp, .gp3 to .gp7, .gpx, MusicXML), both played note-for-note - see the free Guitar Pro player guide for the full details.

Save the tab as a file, not a screenshot: Guitar Pro (.gp to .gp7), MusicXML and MIDI all work. Load it into the 3D Guitar, pick which track the guitar should perform, and the whole band plays while a photoreal 3D guitar performs your part note for note, on the exact strings and frets the tab says. Style the instrument with one of eleven looks or your own design, then export a 9:16 video for TikTok, Shorts and Reels or 16:9 for YouTube, rendered in your browser. You can try the Player, Tuner and Chords without one. An account lets you save songs to your library, keep your practice progress, and sync across devices. The Tuner is always free and needs no login.

No. All audio and microphone processing happens locally in your browser, and your recordings are never sent to us or any third party. Song files you open (Guitar Pro, MusicXML, MIDI) are different: when you are signed in they are saved to your private library so you can open them again, and you can delete them at any time. The Tuner uses your microphone and autocorrelation pitch detection to show the note and how many cents sharp or flat you are, with a needle that locks green when you're in tune. It supports standard and several alternate tunings (Drop D, Eb, Open G, Open D). It's free and needs no account.

Practice is the player in “wait” mode. It freezes on the current note and only advances when you actually play it on your microphone. Single notes and full chords are both detected. It works in both views. You need a mic; there is no need to plug your guitar in. The ten demo songs are free to practice, five classics and five riffs, XP, streak and rank progress included. Practicing your own uploads is a Creator feature.

Creating your free account starts a 7-day learner trial that unlocks three things on the songs you upload: Practice Mode, the deep slow-down below 25% all the way to 5%, and the real sampled guitar sound. Video export stays at the free level throughout, 3 videos a month at 30fps. Yes. Since 7 September 2026 every video exported on the free plan, and during the learner trial, carries a small neural-fretboard.com mark in one corner. Since 30 September 2026 a free video also ends on a short card (under two seconds, after the music) with the address neural-fretboard.com/v, and in the upright 9:16 format the mark sits just inside the area Instagram, TikTok and Shorts keep free of their own buttons, so it is not hidden under them. Creator exports carry no mark and no end card. This is a promise we withdrew: free exports used to be unmarked, and we would rather say that plainly than edit the old wording away. Nothing else about the free export changed, still 3 videos a month, still full 1080p, still 30fps, still yours to post.

There are no tracking cookies, no ad pixels, and no cross-site tracking. We use only a strictly necessary login cookie and functional browser storage, which is why there's no cookie banner. To count visits we use Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless service that only gives us aggregated numbers like page views, and we count a few moments in the app ourselves (for example the pricing page or an export) without storing anything on your device. A modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) with WebGL and Web Audio. It works on phones too: the Player, Tuner, Metronome and Chords are built for touch, and the 3D Guitar shows its preview and exports on a phone, but the full studio with every control and 60 fps is best on a desktop. On that page your phone offers to email you the link. Microphone features need mic permission and a secure (HTTPS) connection.

Video export needs a browser with WebCodecs video encoding: Chrome or Edge (desktop and Android), or Safari 16.4 and newer. On those browsers the exporter measures your device before recording. Fast machines record in one real-time pass; slower machines and phones automatically switch to a two-step export that first plays the song once to capture the sound and then renders every video frame in full quality. That render step runs slower than the song on weak hardware, but the finished file is always smooth and in sync, at the full frame rate your plan allows - 30 fps on Free, 60 fps on Creator. Only browsers without WebCodecs (for example Firefox on Android) fall back to a real-time screen capture, where the file can only be as smooth as your device renders live - you will see a notice in the export bar if that applies to you.
